August 2026 — a date that did not move.

Regulation (EU) 2026/1744 deferred the AI Act’s high-risk obligations to December 2027 and August 2028. It did not defer Article 50 transparency, which applied from 2 August 2026, nor the Article 5 prohibitions in force since February 2025. Plenty of people heard “delayed” and stopped reading.

Questions before you start

Is this really free?
Yes. Zekai is an independent AI tools directory — the challenge is how we introduce people to the tools we test. Some tool pages contain affiliate links; the challenge itself costs nothing and requires no purchase.
Didn’t the EU AI Act get delayed?
Partly, and the part that moved is not the part most people think. Regulation (EU) 2026/1744, the Digital Omnibus on AI, was published in the Official Journal on 24 July 2026 and entered into force on 27 July 2026. It deferred the high-risk obligations — standalone Annex III systems to 2 December 2027, and AI embedded in regulated products under Annex I to 2 August 2028. What did not move: Article 50 transparency obligations applied from 2 August 2026 and are live now, prohibited practices under Article 5 have applied since 2 February 2025, and general-purpose AI model obligations since 2 August 2025. Day 24 walks through which of these actually reach you.
Can I put audit evidence or investigation material into ChatGPT?
Some of it, never all of it. Whistleblower reports, investigation files, legally privileged advice and personal data must not go into an external tool — pasting privileged material can waive privilege, and pasting personal data can breach your obligations. Day 18 is dedicated entirely to drawing that line before you are under time pressure, including what to do if something has already been pasted.
Will AI-assisted work survive review or an inspection?
Only if you can show how you got there. Day 6 installs the rule this entire edition rests on: a model may work from evidence you supply, and may never supply the evidence itself. It produces fluent, confident, well-formatted text whether or not anything underneath is true — including clause references that do not exist. Day 28 covers recording where AI was involved, because unrecorded use is indistinguishable from concealed use.
Does using AI compromise my independence?
It can, in a way that is easy to miss. If the same tool drafts a control narrative and then evaluates whether the control is adequate, it is agreeing with itself — that is one source twice, not corroboration. Day 15 has you write your own rules for where AI may be used freely, where its use must be disclosed, and where it must not be used at all. Most audit methodologies have not caught up with this yet.
Why can’t I see all 30 drills at once?
Because binge-reading builds nothing. The challenge unlocks one drill per day from the day you sign — the way any skill gets built: daily reps. Day 1 is open right now so you can try it before committing.
Do I need any AI experience?
Zero. Day 1 assumes you have never written a deliberate prompt. By day 14 you will be turning policies into testable control matrices and designing tests before you look at a population.
What if I miss a day?
Life happens, and so does quarter-end. The challenge is sequential, not strict-daily. Pick up where you left off; the certificate cares that you finish all 30, not that you were perfect.
