Lesson 6: The rubric is the specification.
A marking rubric is a description of what a high grade looks like, written in the marker’s language. Turned into a checklist, it becomes a test you can run on your own draft before anyone else does.
Why this matters: Most lost marks are not lost on knowledge. They are lost on criteria nobody read carefully. Converting the rubric into something you actually run is the cheapest improvement available to any student.
