Nineteen of the most populous US states have enacted AI laws or regulations relating to employment, and more jurisdictions worldwide are following. Most HR professionals in those states do not know.
Why this matters: 57% of HR professionals in states with workforce AI regulations are unaware of them, and of those who are aware, only 12% have taken steps to comply (SHRM, 2026). Meanwhile 49% of organisations have an AI policy and only a quarter think it will hold up. This is the last compliance drill and the one that protects both you and your organisation.
