Lesson 1: What is AI — and what is a prompt?
A large language model is a pattern-recognition engine: a colleague who has read every HR textbook ever written and has never sat opposite a crying employee. A prompt is your instruction — and its single most powerful line is the one that assigns a role.
Why this matters: Ask a bare question and you get a policy summary. Assign the role of an experienced HR business partner and you get judgement: what to ask first, what the risk is, who else needs to be in the room. Only 39% of organisations have adopted AI in HR while 62% use it elsewhere in the business (SHRM, 2026). This is how you close that gap for yourself.
