SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today, SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of making life multiplanetary and expanding consciousness to the stars.

SpaceXSI is building Super Intelligence to help humanity understand the universe. Our teams are building the full Super Intelligence stack: from our Colossus supercomputers, to Grok models, to our suite of applications, including Grok Bot, Grok Build, Grok Imagine, Grok Voice, and X. We're creating a powerful flywheel where more compute trains better models, better models power more useful products, and what we learn from people using those products shapes what we build next.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

In this role, you will help enhance Grok by providing high-quality data annotations, labels, and inputs focused on physics. You will draw on your expertise in areas such as condensed matter physics, high-energy physics, nuclear physics, atomic, molecular, and optical (AMO) physics, quantum computing and information, computational physics, mathematical physics, and interdisciplinary fields such as biophysics to evaluate model outputs, identify errors in physical reasoning or underlying assumptions, and produce clear, rigorous solutions and explanations. Your work will help train Grok to distinguish flawed or inadequately justified approaches from solutions that are physically sound, logically rigorous, and scientifically accurate.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Utilize proprietary software applications to annotate and label data for designated projects.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, accurate, and well-curated datasets that meet project standards.
  • Play a key role in training and developing new tasks by collaborating closely with technical teams to support the successful implementation of innovative technologies and initiatives.
  • Work with technical staff to enhance the design, functionality, and efficiency of annotation tools and workflows.
  • Contribute to advancing physics research by guiding AI models to solve complex scientific problems, improve research outcomes, and support scientific discovery and practical applications.
  • Select and solve problems across diverse areas of physics aligned with your expertise, providing detailed, accurate solutions and critically evaluating AI-generated responses.
  • Consistently interpret, analyze, and execute tasks in accordance with established guidelines, technical requirements, and project instructions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s or PhD in physics or a highly related field.
  • English proficiency at CEFR C1 level or higher.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more subfields of physics, including but not limited to condensed matter physics, high-energy physics, nuclear physics, atomic, molecular, and optical (AMO) physics, quantum computing and information, computational physics, mathematical physics, and interdisciplinary fields such as biophysics.
  • Advanced expertise in physics, evidenced by multiple publications in reputable, peer-reviewed scientific journals, preferably including one or more first-author publications.
  • Strong research skills and proficiency in navigating scientific literature, specialized databases, and diverse online information resources.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Strong reading comprehension and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to exercise sound independent judgment when working with limited information or resources.
  • A strong interest in and commitment to technological advancement, scientific innovation, and emerging technologies.
  • Previous experience in AI tutoring, AI model evaluation, or related applications of artificial intelligence.
  • Teaching or tutoring experience at the university or secondary education level, or equivalent professional instructional experience.
  • Experience in technical writing, science journalism, scientific communication, or other professional writing environments.
