Join a leading AI lab's cutting-edge GenAI team to be at the core of the AI revolution, where your expertise fuels the development of the most advanced generative AI models.

1. Overview

Join a leading AI lab's cutting-edge GenAI team and help build foundational AI models from the ground up. We're seeking a talented Editorial, Deck & Document Designer with deep, hands-on presentation, publication and print production experience to bring real layout and typographic judgment and elevate the quality of our AI training data. This is a full-time commitment of 40 hours per week.

This is a W-2 employment position with Cincinnatus LLC, with the opportunity to be placed at a leading AI Lab as part of their extended workforce.

2. Key Responsibilities
  • Guide research teams to close knowledge gaps and improve AI model performance in presentation design, editorial layout, typography, information design and print production.
  • Design challenging, real-world deck and document tasks, from executive summaries to brand books and brochures, and produce reference deliverables in editable source formats.
  • Evaluate AI-generated presentations, documents and infographics and give clear, written feedback, catching problems with grids, type hierarchy, chart accuracy, bleed, page setup and print color.
  • Develop guidelines, rubrics and quality checks for layout and typography, including technical checks on slide and PDF files.
  • Collaborate with other subject matter experts to ensure consistency and accuracy in training data.
3. Core Qualifications
  • 5+ years of shipped presentation, editorial or document design for agency, studio, consultancy or commercial clients, for example a consultancy visual graphics or design studio team (McKinsey, BCG, Bain, Deloitte, Accenture), a presentation agency (Duarte, Buffalo 7, SketchDeck, Prezlab), a brand or annual report studio (Pentagram, Addison, Radley Yeldar, Emperor, Lippincott), a publisher or magazine, or an in-house corporate communications or investor relations design team. Crowd rating, data labeling and student work do not count.
  • Expert command of PowerPoint and browser-based slide tools, including master slides, custom templates and chart tooling such as think-cell, with Keynote a plus.
  • Expert command of Adobe InDesign for multi-page documents: master pages, paragraph and character styles, grids and baseline alignment, long-document features, and packaging files for print. Affinity Publisher is acceptable where the work was shipped.
  • Working fluency in Figma and Illustrator for brand systems, diagrams, icons and vector charts.
  • Print prepress ownership: bleed, trim, safe area, folds (tri-fold, gatefold), dielines, imposition, Pantone and CMYK, press proofs, and PDF/X exports a printer accepts first time.
  • A track record of executive chartbooks, board or investor decks, infographics and data visualisation where the chart choice and the typography carry the argument.
  • Fluency delivering and working from editable source files (.pptx, .key, browser-based slide tools, .indd and .idml, .ai, .fig, .afpub, print-ready PDF).
  • Hands-on working use of generative AI tools in professional work, for example Microsoft Copilot in PowerPoint, Gamma, Beautiful.ai, Adobe Firefly, Canva Magic Design or Midjourney for imagery, and the judgment to tell a strong result from a plausible-looking weak one.
  • A public portfolio or reel of shipped work; you will be asked to walk through it.
  • Ability to engage reliably for at least 40 hours/week during weekdays.
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to explain creative decisions clearly.
